The spirit of freewind (the flight of the moment)

The wind catches the sail as the boat points away from the wind. The boat tilts at an angle and slowly we pick up momentum, silently cutting through the brown silty lake as the sail catches the breeze, Peacefully, peacefully moving forward with not an utterance of words or the sound of a chugging engine. The moment is still, the moment is meditative, the mind focussed on a point where to turn/tack the boat, but always with a final destination ahead.

Tack, Sail, Tack, Sail we zig zag through a narrow channel, endlessly changing direction, slowly edging closer to our destination, while other boats motor by. Does this not remind you, how similar this is, on how we carve a path through our journey of living and learning?

Sometimes the wind is with us and we sail gracefully and quickly to our destination. But most of the time, the wind is not in our favour, and we have to take many turns to get to where we want to be. Along the way, we learn many things, meet many people and avoid many obstacles. The Journey is sometimes long, sometimes hard, but never dull.

It is our patience, our attention, our awareness, our keeness and our love that keeps us on an even keel. I sail into the river of this moment to see where it takes me. Somewhere in the distance is where I want to be, but I cant see where it is yet, and sometimes maybe the wind will be in my favour.
